Day 2 in Berlin

What a day we had today in Berlin.  I will let the students tell you about it but needless to say that it was incredible.  We first took the U Bahn to the Brandenburg Gate where we met our guide Harold.  He was fantastic!  Very informative and helpful!  It helped that he was a jazz bass player so he spoke not only our English language but a bit of our musical language as well.  We learned several things including the fact that we were going to a concert that night in the same concert facility that Carl Maria von Weber premiered Der Freichutes.  That was cool!

We saw Mickey Mouse!  It is fashion week and I guess nothing says fashion like Mickey?  Anyhow it was only a little disturbing when he took his head off and lit up a smoke!  There is a great picture of his head on a bench.  I hope someone will post it.

We went on to the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe.  It was not enough time to really get the full impact but interesting.  I think we will return.

A few shots of us.

This is the Konzerthaus where we saw the concert

Then we came across this quaint little church!  I think we will go to services Sunday so we can get inside without having to pay.

A Medieval Church

City Hall

Inside City Hall, we found the Borthers Grimm!!!!!

We all need to get rest where we can!!!!!

And just because the photo is super cool!  This is a television tower in the mist!

Later in the evening we went to the Bennewitz String Quartet!  I am going to let the students tell you about this but it was unlike any string quartet concert I've ever experienced and it was utterly fantastic!!!!
