Mass in the Salz Dom

Today we saw a Mozart's Piccolomini Mass in the Salz Dom.  Seeing his mass in the same cathedral he was organist for a couple of years was a wonderful experience!  So much terrific musicianship.  This is a place that give a high mass every Sunday with multiple organs (there are 5 in the place!) orchestra, choir and soloists.  Needless to say, we rarely see church services like this back home.  Afterwards some of went to Mozart's favorite coffee house.  Kai and I ended up staying for a while then exploring around.  We walked to "new" town and up to the monastery.  Then we met our guide Gabi!  She was full of energy and information!  Really great tour!  Here are some pictures.

Really creepy in the crypt

Shadows on the wall

Yes it was cold, but it is anything but bleak!  So beautiful!

Preach it!

Um, Kai?  Are you supposed to be up there?

Kai and I hiked up there

Our guide made it clear that Mozart looked nothing like this!

This was where Mozart was baptized.
