From Dvorak to Mozart!

Our last full day in Prague might have been the best one yet! In the morning Hannah, Alex, Taylor and I went to our favorite bakery for breakfast before venturing to the Lobkowitz Palace at the Prague Castle for a chamber music concert. I wasn't really sure what to expect of the concert, since the program was so vague. It turned out to be a concert with just viola and piano, which doesn't sound entirely promising by itself. However, the concert was thoroughly enjoyable and I really enjoyed their version of Für Elise with both the viola and piano. It was fun to think that people used to go to chamber music concerts like that hundreds of years ago in the very same room, or at least one very much like it. The Lobkowitz family collection was also really cool. One of the princes of the family was a major patron of Beethoven, and seeing the Eroica behind an inch of glass was awesome. I'm glad we went to the castle for the concert, it was a really cool experience.

After the chamber music and museum we were all hungry so we set off to find U Flecku, the oldest pub in Prague. When we finally got there we were shown to a long table and an accordion player started playing! It was an almost medieval experience and the goulash and dumplings were delicious.

After a delicious dinner at U Flecku we went down to the Vlatva for our jazz boat tour! Hannah E. and I were expecting a combo that would play standard jazz tunes, but it turned out to be a combo of bass, drums, guitar, and a vocalist who sang some funky/soul music. It was unexpected but still good. The view of Prague at night was absolutely gorgeous, and I already miss it!

Salzburg is promising so far, last night when we got in we had a delicious dinner of schnitzel and it was snowing! It's still snowing right now and I'm excited to explore the old town today and see the home of Mozart, stay tuned for the vienna philharmonic tonight!!!
