Whirlwind beginning
Sunday, January 12, 2014 I left home with my family, worked child care at my grandparent's church, then was driven to the airport to embark on this crazy adventure. The group, the ten of us, got through security and had to wait a while before boarding the plane to Frankfurt. I was nervous at first because I haven't been on a plane since junior high! It happens I didn't know I was nervous until we were all seated on the plane and it started to take off. The minute I walked on the plane I felt wobbly, but once it took off my stomach felt like it was doing somersaults. During this 10 hour flight I watched 3 1/2 movies: Despicable Me 2, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, We're the Millers, and The Hobbit. I also resorted to listening to children country songs with songs like Buffalo Bill and Home on the Range. The meal served was pasta and I had water. Well I didn't get much sleep, but I did have a good time. So we arrived in Frankfurt!!! …Then we had a 3 hour layover in the Frankfurt airport. This is Saturday, January 13th. The flight from Frankfurt to Leipzig was fun because I met a great guy who works for the airline company Lufthansa and was talking to me about school and travel and all sorts of stuff. I admit, I really was hoping to catch some "zzz's" on this hour flight, but talking to him was cool too. We finally made it to Leipzig and we caught the train close to our hostel, checked in, then went for food. While we were sitting at the table I was having such a hard time staying awake. I ordered linguini with shrimp! It was delicious. It wasn't late enough yet so we went walking around the city… it was after 5, but it was so dark and we were so tired it felt like midnight. While exploring we went into a cathedral and almost got locked in! Boy, that was exciting searching for a way out. I realized I was falling asleep as I write this and it's only 8:00! Oh well, time for some much needed sleep.
